Auriculotherapy is a form of acupuncture that can be used both additionally and independently. In ear acupuncture, acupuncture needles, indwelling needles or patches containing Vaccaria seeds are placed exclusively on acupuncture points in the auricle. Before these needles or seeds are applied, ear acupuncture points will be located through an ear pointfinder. This pointfinder is used to measure the skin resistance of ear acupuncture points, with lower resistance indicating an imbalance. By stimulating these points, the body’s self-regulating and self-healing capacity is tapped and all kinds of symptoms and complaints of a physical, mental and emotional nature can be treated.

Residence needles or patches containing Viccaria seeds, cowslip, are applied to ear acupuncture points and can remain in place for up to 14 days. After that, they fall off on their own. The advantage of these stay needles or seeds is that the ear acupuncture points are continuously stimulated during this period. You yourself can also contribute to the stimulation of the acupuncture points by applying light pressure on them from time to time. In this way, you apply a kind of massage similar to acupressure where pressure points or acupressure points are manipulated to release blockages in the body, drain toxins and promote the free flow of life energy and blood circulation.
